The Story Behind MTD4Subbies
The idea for MTD4Subbies began with two subcontractors who spent years working within the construction industry and experiencing many of the same challenges faced by tradespeople every day. Keeping track of CIS deductions, receipts, expenses and paperwork often meant juggling spreadsheets, notebooks, photos and piles of paperwork.
Many of the software products available were powerful, but they were often built with accountants and larger businesses in mind. For many subcontractors, they felt unnecessarily complicated, expensive and full of features they would never use.
At the same time, Making Tax Digital was becoming an increasingly important topic across the industry. It was clear that many subcontractors wanted a simpler way to stay organised and prepare for the future without needing to become tax experts.
